A new family home based on a heritage design
The brief was to design a new, environmentally brilliant house for our clients and their growing family … in a traditionally Georgian style.
We met Jake and Amy at the Home Building & Renovation Show when they approached us to design their new family home. They needed a feature entrance, a key open plan kitchen/dining/living space, playroom, home study, and four usable bedrooms upstairs. They were keen to add a sense of drama to the interaction between house and garden.
They had a vision that this new home was to be super insulated, high performing, and borderline meeting the Passivhaus standards. Added in to this was their desire for Jake to manage the build.
The balance between the modern methods, traditional aesthetic, and self-build nature brought plenty of plates to keep spinning all at the same time.
