We are George & James Architects, a team of creative like-minded architects and designers. As a collective we understand the power architecture can have, to create buildings that are good for you and the planet, whilst also being a place that can make you feel good.
We have a wonderful studio near the border of Surrey, in the outskirts of Midhurst in West Sussex. We are lucky to work from a beautifully restored dairy farm, where we have space to gather together as a team. The studio and its wonderful rural setting, mixed with lashings of fresh air, really gets our creative minds going.
We believe that the places where we live, work and play should be healthy and happy - filled with natural light, connected with nature, giving us everything we need to thrive. Architecture should be simple, sustainable and functional, beautiful yet understated. This is at the core of all of our designs.
If you are curious about how we could create a building that makes you feel good, we would love to talk. However, if you are not too bothered about what your building will look like or how it will make you feel, then we’re probably not the architects for you.
In our practice we have a variety of design experience from working on a great mix of projects, from private residential homes, including new build, renovations and extensions; multiple unit housing schemes; commercial retail and office designs; we have even worked on a public library scheme and the café at Westminster Abbey! Our different perspectives and experiences bring a great deal to the design process, and we love bouncing ideas off each other and putting our heads together when a problem seems particularly tricky.
We enjoy working in and around Surrey, and we are currently working on several design projects across the county. We also like to keep our horizons wide, and we have architectural projects in many corners of London and the South East. In fact, if it’s the right project and the right client, we’ll work almost anywhere.
