Our clients sought to reconfigure their existing home, adapting it to support their evolving family needs through thoughtful, design-led interventions.
Our brief centered on reconfiguring the north-east corner of the property, to maximise the relationship with the generous garden. By converting the underused garage, a shared study and informal seating area has been created, with generous glazing that frames the views across the landscape.

Discovery and Design
The utility room has been relocated, allowing this space to benefit from direct access to outside and providing amply storage for outdoor clothing and sporting equipment.
An extension over the garage now accommodates an ensuite guest bedroom, accessed via its own staircase. Dual skylights flood the interior with natural daylight, while an additional skylight set above the staircase draws daylight deep into the plan. A double height void within the extension, set above the ground floor snug, adds a beautiful sense of drama to the interior.
The extension responds to the original house, reinterpreting the architectural language in a contemporary way with a carefully considered material palette.
The extension sits comfortably with the aesthetic of the existing dwelling, with carefully selected materials that complement the original and helps differentiate it. Dark stained horizontal timber cladding, standing seam zinc , and grey aluminum window frames establish a contemporary character.
The modern materials contrast beautifully with the original red brick and clay hanging tiles, allowing the history of the property to be clearly expressed through its architecture.
Could this be the start of your story?
Every home we build is a response to a specific life and a specific landscape or context. If this project has inspired you, let’s discuss how we can bring the same level of craft, clarity, and character to your vision.
