The Meads
Changing a urban garage into a modern family dwelling
The Meads, a complex design challange.
We always like a design challenge, and this project really gave us a lot to think about to make it work. A tight, urban garage site isn’t an obvious setting for a secluded home, but with a few clever moves the design has created a comfortable, contemporary three bedroom home.
The house is tucked behind the extended flint boundary wall, creating much needed privacy in this enclosed and overlooked plot. The house centres on a sunken courtyard, a sun trap to enjoy throughout the year.
