We are George & James Architects, an RIBA Chartered practice that has a simple architectural mission; to design homes and buildings that we can all be delighted by – healthy, happy places that are kind to you and kind to our planet.

Farnham RIBA Chartered Architectural Practice

We have set up our studio in a fabulous, refurbished old dairy barn near Midhurst, close to the border of Surrey. The setting offers us space to gather together, the rural location inspires us and, when matched with lots of fresh air, really gets our creative minds going.

As a practice we believe that architecture should be simple, sustainable and functional, beautiful yet understated. This is a belief that runs through our work, through our conversations, and through the life of our studio. Talk to any one of us, and you’ll find we all share that same sense of commitment and that same strength of feeling.

If you are curious about how we could create a building that makes you feel good, get in touch as we would love to talk. However, if you are not too bothered about what your building will look like or how it will make you feel, then we’re probably not the architects for you.

Our broad design skills

We have experience of working on a variety of projects, having worked on projects from bespoke private residential homes, including renovations, extensions and new build; multiple unit housing schemes; commercial retail and office designs; we have even worked on a public library scheme and the café at Westminster Abbey! Our different perspectives and experiences bring a great deal to our design process, and we love bouncing ideas off each other and putting our heads together when a project seems particularly tricky.

Our architectural design projects still take us all over, with schemes across theSurrey, the South East, London, Herefordshire, Somerset and beyond. Our horizons are open, in fact, if it’s the right project and the right client, we’ll work almost anywhere.
