Planning approval has been secured for our Pewley Hill scheme in Guilford, Surrey.
Working in close collaboration with the owners, the project carefully reconsiders the existing property, using architecture to bring it up to modern living standards, creating a warm, functional, and flexible family home that fits their lifestyle and improves their day-to-day living.
Successful Design
Our proposal seeks to sensitively refurbish and reconfigure the existing two-storey detached home to better meet the needs of modern family life, while remaining respectful of the property’s scale, setting, and suburban character. The design introduces subtle architectural enhancements to the building’s elevations, improving both its functionality and visual coherence.
A carefully integrated first-floor extension introduces additional bedroom accommodation, while the reworking of the existing garage and store roof unlocks valuable internal space. Together, these interventions create a series of flexible rooms tailored to modern life: guest accommodation, a discreet ground-floor shower room, and a dedicated home office that provides meaningful separation between work and family. Importantly, the inclusion of ground-floor facilities futureproofs the home, allowing it to adapt gracefully over time.
Sustainable Overhaul
Performance is addressed with equal rigour. The building envelope will be comprehensively upgraded, with all windows and doors replaced by high-performance aluminium systems to enhance thermal efficiency and longevity. The new first-floor addition and partial reroofing to the rear are designed to exceed current standards, significantly improving insulation and overall energy performance.
The result is a carefully considered transformation, a home that feels warmer, more efficient and quietly contemporary, designed to support family life both now and in the years ahead.
