At George & James we believe that every building design should make you feel good – whether it’s your home, your studio, workplace, or perhaps a cafe or restaurant. The architectural design should be functional and simple, understated yet beautiful.

Our design team have worked on a variety of projects, offering invaluable experience, from private residential homes, including renovations, extensions and new build; multiple unit housing schemes; commercial retail and office designs; we have even worked on a public library scheme and the café at Westminster Abbey! Our different perspectives and experiences bring a great deal to the design process, and we love bouncing ideas off each other and putting our heads together when a problem seems particularly tricky.

With every design project we listen before we do anything. We come to your project with open eyes and ears, and with curiosity, care and honesty. To this we add our professional architectural design knowledge and experience from the variety of projects we have worked on throughout out career, all inspiring us and pushing us a little further.

If you’re excited about a design crafted exactly for you and your needs we’d love to talk. On the other hand, if you’re not too bothered about what your building will look like or how it will make you feel, then we’re probably not the architects for you.

Diverse design experience

Across the George & James team we have a great variety of design experience, we are skilled at designing projects at all scales, from large mixed-use commercial developments, museums, public library, new homes or a sympathetic renovation. As architects we use our in-depth design knowledge, honed over our years of practice, and bring it into every new architectural project.

We do work across the UK and our projects take us all over – if the project is a good fit for us we will work just about anywhere! Having said that, we do enjoy working close to our studio in Sussex and the majority of our work is clustered around Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and London.
