A full refurbishment of a listed Georgian townhouse
A former high-end casino in one of the smartest bits of town, it had turned its back on its Georgian heritage through 80s interventions, the passing of time and a lack of TLC, and was now in dire need of help.
Working closely with the client, we started with a thorough unpicking of the historical narrative of the existing building, ensuring a considered and respectful approach to conserving the building’s past storey, building on the architectural features of note.Â
Key architectural moves included a general restoration of the grandeur it once had, letting much-needed light to penetrate deep within the plan at each level, and marrying a respect for history with clever use of space. A balance between front-of-house grandeur and considered calm luxury located within the more private areas – combined to form a workplace for ‘our’ century, one that people positively want to come to.
