George and James Architects were delighted to be involved with the recent Town Cup, Semi-Final and Final of The Gold Cup polo tournaments at Cowdray Park.
Being involved in the local community, especially so close to our Architectural practice home in West Sussex is important to us. We had lots of interesting conversations about planning regulations, change of use from agricultural to residential dwellings, working with listed and heritage buildings, and our experience creating beautiful buildings whilst working to the associated constraints.
Cowdray Park Polo Club is often hailed as the "Home of British Polo," and each year hosts the Gold Cup where visitors witnessed two electrifying games in one week. The matches took place on the prestigious Lawns polo grounds where in the final Dubai became the champions against La Dolfina Great Oaks.
At half time, spectators descended onto the pitch which was transformed into a sea of colour as the famous divot stomping took place with prizes to be won if a spectator found a lucky key.
It was a beautiful sunny day where the crowds enjoyed a spectacular polo event, with actress Sophie Turner awarding the prize to the winning team.
We are excited to work with Cowdray for more events, as we do with Goodwood, and are planning to attend more events in Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex to share the George & James story this year.
